Episode 4: The Santalune City Gym Battle

(Santalune Gym)

Referee: The Gym Battle Rematch between Ash the challenger and Viola the Santalune Gym Leader will begin. Each side will use 2 Pokemon, and the match will be over when 2 Pokemon on one side are unable to battle. However, only the challenger can substitute Pokemon.

Viola: I heard that you were training yesterday from my sister. Let's see if your training pays off! Surskit, Let's go! (Summons Surskit out of its Poke Ball)

Ash: Okay, Pikachu. I Choose You! (Pikachu runs up to the battlefield)

Referree: Let the Battle Begin!

Ash (Pikachu + 1 Pokemon) vs. Viola (Surskit + 1 Pokemon)

(Just then Surskit starts skating)

Alexa: They are waiting to see Surskit's first move.

Bonnie: Come on Ash, you can do it!

Viola: You can't take a picture without pressing a shutter and you can't win a battle without attacking. Sticky Web, Surskit! (Surskit shoots Sticky Webs at Pikachu)

Ash: Dodge it, Pikachu! (Pikachu dodges all the Sticky Web)

Serena: Wow, that's fast!

Alexa: (Nods before turning to Sherman, Buizel, and Treecko) Remember, after Ash battles, you're next, okay?

Sherman: (Nods and turns to Treecko and Buizel) I know we trained yesterday, but we need to concentrate on Ash's battle and learn from it so we can win, okay? (Treecko and Buizel nod in agreement)

Ash: Pikachu, Thunderbolt! (Pikachu uses Thunderbolt on Surskit)

Viola: Use Protect! (Surskit made a barrier to stop the Thunderbolt) Now Signal Beam! (Surskit jumps up and shoots Signal Beam at Pikachu)

Ash: Dodge and then Iron Tail! (Pikachu dodge Signal Beam, jumps up to Surskit and slams it with Iron Tail!

Bonnie: Alright! Pikachu nailed it! (Dedenne agreed)

Samantha: Iron Tail isn't effective on Surskit, which is a part-Water type.

Viola: Now, let's refocus this. Ice Beam on the field!

Ash: Don't let that happen, Pikachu! (Pikachu grabs Surskit, which Surskit accidentally shoots Ice Beam at the trees and ceiling) Hold on to Surskit and use Thunderbolt!

Viola: Shake him off, then Ice Beam! (Surskit shook Pikachu off, and use Ice Beam on the Battlefield, making the battlefield frozen solid) Another picture-perfect ice battlefield! Alright, Surskit, start skating! (Surskit starts skating while Pikachu struggles to get up)

Bonnie: It's like yesterday's battle.

Samantha: Now this is becoming a real deal this time.

Sherman: (Nods and turns to his Pokemon) We have to stay focus, kay? (Buizel and Treecko nod in agreement)

Serena: The thing is Ash trained hard yesterday, right? (Everyone nod at Serena)

Viola: This Ice Battlefield is now my studio. Signal beam, Surskit! (Surskit shoots Signal Beam at Pikachu)

Ash: Pikachu, hit your tail to the ground and Thunderbolt (Pikachu hits the ground with his tail and use Thunderbolt to hit Signal Beam. Thunderbolt is stronger than Signal Beam and hits Surskit, making Surskit faint)

Referee: Surskit is unable to battle, Pikachu wins!

Ash: We did it! (Serena and Bonnie cheers)

Viola: (Returns Surskit) Nice job, Surskit. You get a good rest.

Bonnie: Looks like Ash only has one Pokemon left to beat.

Samantha: Don't forget. Viola has a Vivillon and she's not going to let her guard down.

Clemont: She's right. Ash really has to focus on defeating that Vivillon.

Ash: Pikachu, come back. (Pikachu did and walk back to Ash)

Viola: You're recalling your Pikachu?

Sherman: (Thinking) Hold on, both Pikachu and Fletchling has the advantage against Vivillon.

Ash: You see, Viola. Fletchling wants to have a rematch as well. Fletchling, come on out! (Sends Fletchling out of his Pokeball)

Viola: Okay, Ash. If that's you wanted, so be it. Vivillon, come on out! (Sends Vivillon out of the Pokeball)

Bonnie: The good news is no more Sticky Web! (Dedenne agreed)

Serena: It all thanks to Pikachu!

Clemont: Now they'll have to go through Gust!

Samantha: Don't let your hopes up. Viola may have some tricks up her sleeve. (Everyone looks at Samantha)

Ash: Fletchling, Steel Wing! (Fletchling's wings turns metal and flies towards Vivillon)

Viola: Psychic! (Vivillon's eyes glow as it stops Fletchling before slamming him to the ground)

Ash: Fletchling! (Fletchling recover himself) You okay? (Fletchling nodded yes) Okay, Steel Wing again! (Flecthling flies towards Vivillon again with Steel Wing and hits Vivillon) Alright! Peck, let's go! (Fletchling's beak glows and aims towards Vivillon yet again)

Viola: Dodge, then use Gust! (Vivillon dodge peck and uses Gust at Fletchling)

Ash: Remember our training from yesterday! (Fletchling adjusts his wings and feet) Now Razor Wind! (Fletchling sends sharp winds at Vivillon)

Viola: Sleep Powder! (Vivillon sends green powder at Fletchling. After that, Vivillon was hit by Razor Wind and Fletchling was hit by sleep powder, making him go to sleep) Another picture perfect! Solarbeam! (Vivillon charges up Solarbeam and shoots it at Fletchling, hitting him and causing him to be defeated)

Referee: Fletchling is unable to battle, Vivillon wins!

Bonnie: Fletchling lost. (Dedenne agreed sadly)

Clemont: I didn't know Vivillon can use Sleep Powder.

Sherman: (Thinking) Now we have to deal with Sleep Powder as well! Including Gust, Ice Battlefield, and Sticky Web.

Buizel: (Looks at Sherman) Bui, bui?

Sherman: (Turns to Buizel) I'm alright, Buizel.

Ash: (Returns Fletchling to his Pokeball) Thank you, Fletchling, you get a good rest. (Turns to Pikachu) Pikachu, it's all up to you now!

Pikachu: Pikachu! (Runs to the battlefield, trying to balance himself on the ice)

Viola: Okay, Vivillon, use Gust! (Vivillon flaps its wings at Pikachu)

Ash: Pikachu, hang tough! (Pikachu use his tail to prevent himself from flying off)

Clemont: Pikachu's still feeling the battle with Surskit. If this keeps going, this could lead to a big disadvantage!

Viola: Looks like you're gonna have to wait for your badge, Ash!

Ash: We're not giving up! We'll keep battling to the very end! (Then Serena remember those words Ash said when he and Serena met at Professor Oak's Summer Camp)

Viola: I admire your persistence, but this battle is about to end! Gust again! (Vivillon use Gust again at Pikachu)

Ash: Iron Tail on the ground, Pikachu! (Pikachu use his glowing tail and hits the ground with it)

Viola: (Smirks) Pretty Clever, but you just made it a lot easier for me to win. Villion, Solarbeam! (Vivillon charges Solarbeam and shoots it at Pikachu)

Ash: Thunderbolt! (Pikachu uses Thunderbolt, hitting Solarbeam with the same power)

Viola: Sleep Powder, Vivillon! (Vivillon sends the green powder at Pikachu, making Pikachu getting sleepy) Vivillon, you know what to do! (Vivillon charges up Solarbeam)

Ash: Pikachu!

Samantha: If that Solarbeam lands, it's all over!

Clemont: Come on Ash!

Bonnie: Do something! (Dedenne shouts out)

Serena: Please, Ash!

Ash: (Smirks) Pikachu, Electro Ball on yourself! (Pikachu sends Electro Ball and its lands at Pikachu, making him wide awake. Everyone was shocked.)

Samantha: Impossible!

Sherman: But how?!

Buizel (Shocked) Bui?!

Treecko: (Shocked) Treecko?!

Clemont: (Shocked) Pikachu neutralized Sleep Powder by using an Electric Type move on himself!

Viola: (Growls) Solarbeam, Vivillon! (Vivillon shoots Solarbeam at Pikachu)

Ash: Pikachu, Electro ball! (Pikachu sends an Electro Ball at Vivillon, cutting through Solarbeam and hitting Vivillon, knocking 3 frozen lamps from the back)

Viola: Vivillon! (Notices Vivillon has a frozen wing) But . . . but how?!

Samantha: Surskit was trying to use Ice Beam at the battlefield, but Pikachu held on to Surskit and it accidentally hits the trees and others before it created an Ice Battlefield.

Clemont: This could be a perfect opportunity for Ash!

Bonnie: Finish it off, Ash! (Dedenne cheers)

Ash: Pikachu, wrap this up with Thunderbolt! (Pikachu uses Thunderbolt at Vivillon, hitting it and was now defeated)

Referee: Vivillon is unable to battle, Pikachu wins, and the victor goes to Ash!

Ash: We did it Pikachu! (Pikachu cheers as he runs up and hug Ash)

Serena: (Runs up to Ash with Clemont, Bonnie, Samantha, Sherman, Treecko, and Buizel) You did it, Ash!

Bonnie: You were great!

Samantha: You just overcame a few obstacles, but I'm impressed!

Sherman: Congrats, Ash. (Buizel and Treecko cheers)

Ash: Thanks, guys. And Thank you as well Clemont, your invention gave me an idea!

Clemont: You mean my invention's failure gave you an idea of Pikachu using Electro Ball on himself?

Ash: Yep, And this victory belongs to all of us! (Everyone agreed)

Viola: (Returns Vivillon to the Pokeball) Thank you Vivillon. (Walks up to Ash with Alexa and the referee (Holding the badge)) Ash, this is the proof that you won your Gym Battle against me. I present you the Bug Badge!

Ash: (Receives a badge) Thank you, Viola. (Helds his badge up high) I've just got the Bug Badge! (Pikachu cheers before Ash puts the badge in his Badge Case)

Viola: (Turns to Sherman) Now that Ash's match is done, I'll be right back to heal up my Pokemon, and then you and I are going to have a battle! (Sherman nods as Viola leaves to go heal up her Pokemon)

Ash: Hey, Sherman. Good Luck! (Pikachu agrees)

Serena: I know you can do it!

Bonnie: We believe in you! (Dedenne agrees)

Clemont: Give it all you got!

Samantha: Do your best, kay? (Sherman nods as Buizel and Treecko are at their battle expressions)

Alexa: You watched Ash and Viola's battle, correct? I'm sure you'll get the hang of my sister's strategy. (Helioptile agrees)

(Sherman and Viola are now on the Battlefield as the rest is on the sidelines)

Well it looks like my Gym Battle against Viola will soon begin.

Bonnie: Do you think Sherman will win? (Dedenne speaks up)

Ash: If I can handle Viola's strategy, then Sherman and his team can! (Pikachu agreed)

Referee: The Santalune Gym Battle between Sherman the challenger and Viola the Santalune Gym Leader will begin, each side will use 2 Pokemon and the battle will be over when 2 Pokemon on 1 side are unable to continue. Only the challenger can substitute Pokemon!

Viola: I hope you're ready, Sherman. Surskit, let's go! (Sends out her Surskit from its Pokeball)

Sherman: (Looks at Treecko) Treecko. (Treecko nods and walks up to the battlefield)

Samantha: So he's starting it off with Treecko.

Clemont: Treecko may have a disadvantage of Bug-Type, but Surskit is part water type, so I'm sure Sherman has something up his sleeve.

Referee: Battle Begin!

Sherman (Treecko + 1 Pokemon) vs. Viola (Surskit + 1 Pokemon)

Viola: Sticky Web, Surskit, let's go! (Surskit spits out the Sticky Web at Treecko)

Sherman: Dodge and Bullet Seed! (Treecko dodges and shoots Bullet Seed from his mouth at Surskit)

Viola: Protect, Surskit! (Surskit made a barrier to block all the Bullet Seed. After that, the barrier disappeared) Signal Beam! (Surskit shoots Signal Beam at Treecko)

Sherman: Dodge and Absorb! (Treecko dodged Signal Beam and hits Surskit from behind with Absorb)

Clemont: That's really amazing!

Bonnie: Way to go, Sherman! (Dedenne cheers)

Viola: You're really good, but now, it is the time for the ice battlefield. Surskit, Ice Beam on the field! (Surskit jumps up and shoots Ice Beam at the battlefield, making the battlefield frozen)

Sherman: (Notices Treecko balancing, but knew his feet were slipping on the ice) You got it, Treecko? (Treecko nodded yes)

Viola: Okay, Surskit, Sticky Web! (Surskit shoots Sticky Web at Treecko, having some of the Sticky Web at the field)

Sherman: Treecko, dodge and Bullet Seed! (Treecko dodges Sticky Web by skating on the ice and shoots Bullet Seed at Surskit, hitting Surskit)

Serena: Yeah, Bullet Seed is a direct hit this time!

Ash: Treecko's really amazing! (Pikachu agreed)

Viola: Surskit, Signal Beam! (Surskit shoots Signal Beam at Treecko)

Sherman: Dodge and finish it with Bullet Seed! (Treecko skates to dodge Signal Beam and once again shoots Bullet Seed at Surskit, and hits it, making Surskit struggle to get up)

Viola: Surskit, get up! (Surskit tries, but unfortunately, it faints, making Viola gasp)

Referee: Surskit is unable to battle, Treecko wins!

Ash/Serena/Clemont/Bonnie: Alright! (Pikachu and Dedenne cheers)

Samantha: You know, it's not time to throw a party just yet. (Ash and others look at Samantha before notice Sherman and his Pokemon have to go through Viola's Vivillon and they now nod in a serious expressions)

Viola: (Returns Surskit to its Pokeball) Thank you, Surskit. (Turns to Sherman) Well, now that you defeated my Surskit, I hope you're ready for my Vivillon! Vivillon, Come on out! (Sends Vivillon out of its Pokeball)

Sherman: Treecko, Return! (Treecko notices and walks back to Sherman)

Bonnie: Huh, Sherman is withdrawing his Treecko. (Dedeene speaks up)

Clemont: Treecko is at a huge disadvantage against Vivillon, who is a Bug and Flying-type Pokemon.

Treecko: (Looks up at Clemont and realizes despite having a love for battles and wanting to go up against Vivillon, he's right and looks at Buizel and tells him good luck) Treecko!

Buizel: (Thanking Treecko) Bui, bui! (He and Treecko high five each other)

Sherman: You'll be alright watching Buizel battle against Vivillon, right? (Treecko knew he got a chance at defeating Viola's Pokemon and now he wanted his fellow Pokemon friend (Buizel) to get a chance as well and nodded yes and Sherman nods as well and turns to Buizel) You ready? (Buizel nodded yes and runs up to the battlefield, trying not to slip on the ice)

Samantha: So Buizel is up.

Ash: Sherman! Buizel! Good luck! (Pikachu cheers)

Viola: Alright, Vivillon! Gust now! (Vivillon sends Gust at Buizel, but uses his tail to try not to slip on the ice)

Sherman: Aqua Jet! (Buizel surrounds his body with water and charges at Vivillon)

Viola: Psychic! (Vivillon's eyes glow and controls Buizel, making him hit the sticky web from earlier. Everyone gasps) Now for the picture-perfect Solarbeam, Vivillon! (Vivillon charges up Solarbeam and shoots it at Buizel)

Sherman: Ice Beam! (Buizel shoots the beam of ice at Solarbeam, causing an explosion. Then, Buizel got out of Sticky Web.)

Viola: I didn't know your Buizel learned Ice Beam?!

Sherman: (Nods) Ice Beam at Vivillon! (Buizel shoots the beam of ice again, but this time at Vivillon)

Viola: Dodge and Sleep Powder! (Vivillon dodges Ice Beam and sprays green powder at Buizel)

Sherman: Buizel, Dig! (Buizel jumps up and positions himself like a drill and drills through the ice. Everyone Gasps)

Viola: How did you . . .

Ash: That's awesome! (Pikachu agreed)

Serena: I didn't know Buizel can dig through the ice!

Samantha: Thing is, Dig has no effect on Vivillon, a part-flying type, so why is Sherman tells Buizel to dig?

Clemont: Good question.

Sherman: Aqua Jet, Buizel! (Buizel pops out of the ground, surrounding in water as he charges at Vivillon, hitting it)

Samantha: I see! Sherman made Buizel Dig as a defense from Sleep Powder so he can use Aqua Jet to pop out and hit Vivillon!

Sherman: Ice Beam! (Buizel shoots Ice Beam at Vivillon)

Viola: Solarbeam, Vivillon! (Vivillon shoots Solarbeam at Buizel. Both attacks collided. Buizel and Vivillon took heavy amount of damage as they struggle to get up. It was then . . . . . . . . . . . . Vivillon finally faints)

Referee: Vivillon is unable to battle. Buizel wins, which means the victor of this match goes to Sherman the challenger! (Sherman sighs in relief before being hugged by Buizel, same goes to Treecko)

Bonnie: That was an amazing battle! (Dedenne agreed)

Samantha: Yep. 2 amazing battles we spectate today!

Ash: That was an amazing strategy Sherman made with Sleep Powder! (Pikachu agreed)

Viola: (Returns Vivillon) Thank you, Vivillon! (Walks up to Sherman with the referee holding the badge) Sherman. Congratulations on beating me! That was an amazing strategy you pulled! As a victor, I present you the Bug Badge! (Hands the badge to Sherman)

Sherman: Thanks. (Gets the badge from Viola as he puts it in his Badge Case before he turns to Treecko and Buizel) Thank you guys. (Buizel and Treecko cheers and once again hug Sherman)

Ash: Guess you got the Bug Badge as well! (Sherman nods)

Samantha: Let's take a selfie altogether for Ash and Sherman's victory!

Viola: That sounds great!

Bonnie: I want to be in a selfie! (Dedeene agreed. Everyone chuckles and after that, Samantha took a selfie of herself, her friends, Alexa, and Viola on her phone)

(Sunset at the front of Santalune Gym)

After Ash and I battled against Viola, we have received our first badge in Kalos.

Viola: Ash, Sherman, you two really surprise me with your strategies! Good luck with your future Gym Battles!

Ash: Thanks! (Pikachu agreed)

Viola: If I say so, the 2^nd badge you need is in Cyllage Gym at the Cyllage City!

Ash: Cyllage City Gym! Can't wait! (Pikachu agreed)

Clemont: I guess we'll be heading out! (Leaves with Serena, Bonnie, Dedenne, Ash, Pikachu, Samantha, Sherman, and Buizel as they wave goodbye)

Bonnie: Bye Alexa! Bye Viola! Bye Helioptile! See you soon! (Dedenne waves goodbye)

Alexa: See you, and good luck! (Helioptile says goodbye)

Viola: Take care!

(Pokemon Center)

Ash: Nurse Joy, can you heal up my Pokemon, please?

Sherman: Mine too?

Nurse Joy: Certainly! (Sherman and Ash gives Treecko's and Fletchling's Pokeball while Buizel and Pikachu goes to Nurse Joy as she heals them up)

Ash: I guess our next stop is in Cyllage City! We'll rest up here and tomorrow, we'll be heading out! (Clemont, Bonnie, and Dedenne agreed before Ash turns to Sherman) Are you going to Cyllage City too, Sherman?

Sherman: Yeah. I'm going there. I guess we'll be traveling together. (Sherman realizes what he said and turned) Sorry, I just . . . (Groans)

Ash: It's alright! It'd be nice for you to come along with me!

Sherman: You mean it?

Ash: Yeah, I would love to travel with you! (Turns to Samantha and Serena) What about you two?

Samantha: You know, I'm going with you guys as well!

Ash: Awesome! What about you Serena?

Serena: (Thinks for a second and . . . . . .) Sure! How can I say no to all that? (Bonnie and Clemont are really happy to see 3 new traveling companions joining)

Nurse Joy: (Gives Ash and Sherman their Pokeball back while Buizel and Pikachu goes up to Sherman and Ash) There you go. Your Pokemon are all healed up!

Ash: Thanks, Nurse Joy! (Pikachu thanked her)

Sherman: Thanks. (Buizel also thanked her)

Ash: (To Pikachu) Guess what, buddy? Sherman, Serena, and Samantha are going to travel with us! (Pikachu cheers)

Sherman: Buizel, we'll be traveling with Ash, Clemont, and Bonnie. (Buizel cheers and then looked at Pikachu and offers a handshake. Pikachu did the same)

And that was it! Serena, Samantha, Buizel, and I are now going to travel with Ash, Clemont, and Bonnie! Tomorrow, we'll be heading out of Santalune City and continue achieving our goals!
